Hope Maker Program Volunteer Description
The Hope Makers Program of San Bernardino City Unified School District helps to empower youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. The Hope Maker program uses adults to commit to supporting various established activities in our district. By becoming part of the social network of adults and community members who care about our youth, the Hope Maker can help youth develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals. This is a volunteer position with no monetary compensation for time or travel.
Hope Maker Role
- Serve as a positive Role Model
- Complete the activity you volunteered to attend
- Build self -esteem and motivation in all students you meet as a Hope Maker
Participation Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be willing to adhere to all SBCUSD policies and procedures
- Be dependable and consistent in meeting the time commitments to the specific Hope Maker event you signed up for
- Attend Hope Maker training in needed for the event
- No record of felony conviction or requirement to register as a sex offender under California Law (Penal Code 290)
- No use of illicit drugs
- No use of alcohol or controlled substances during any Hope Maker Event

Interest and Screening Process
- Criminal history check: state, child abuse and neglect registry, sexual offender registry
- Complete the SBCUSD Volunteer Application through Raptor System
- Pass a TB Screening
