Hope Maker Procedures/Checklist

Procedures for Hope Makers are as follows:

  1. Fill out a SBCUSD Volunteer Application Form using our Raptor system at https://www.sbcusd.com/parent_resources/volunteering

  2. Provide a state-issued driver’s license/ID card, or a Consular Identification Card (CID) issued by the Country of origin, or a passport

  3. Criminal History Report:The SBCUSD District Police will complete a background check for all Hope Makers. The report will be reviewed for any criminal arrests, violations or offenses and the application approved or disapproved at the discretion of the School Police Chief and/or Human Resources Division. The approval process takes from 5-7 days, and an email with final results decisions will be sent to the Principal on Assignment, Kenneth Martinez.

  4. Provide a Tuberculosis Clearance Card to the Community Engagement Office:

You may get a TB Clearance from your private physician or the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health. Skin testing for tuberculosis is offered at Department of Public Health clinics throughout the County. You may call (800) 722-4777 for an appointment and information on clinic locations. The cost for the skin test is $20. Cost could change depending on local circumstances.

Procedures for Returning Hope Makers

Returning Hope Makers that have tested negative for TB must have on file with the District, a certificate showing that within the last four years, the person has been examined and has been found to be free of communicable tuberculosis in accordance with Education Code 49406 (Education Code 45106, 45347, 45349, 49406 and Health & Safety Code 121545).

All returning Hope Makers shall complete a new application each school year and will need to renew a criminal history check with District Police and Human Resources.
