Certified Custodial
Technician Program







Learn how to become a highly qualified Certified Custodial Technician.

The Certified Custodial Technician Program is a (9) week 72 hour course that provides students with the professional skills and knowledge that are required for a career in Custodial Services.

In this class:

  • Students receive detailed hand outs
  • Guided and independent practice for all procedures
  • Basic Building Maintenance Training
  • Basic Supervisor Skills Training

 

Students will learn:


Tools of Trade

  • Safety Procedures
  • Tools that are needed for a Certified Custodial Technician. (CCT).

The Chemistry of Cleaning

  • Seven cleaning agents of the trade
  • Soil removal process, dilution and ratios for mixing chemical
  • Killing germs and using disinfectant chemicals

Basic Interior Cleaning

  • Procedures for Perimeter Cleaning in offices, classrooms, hallways etc.
  • Organize your custodial closet
  • How to order supplies and inspect your work

Basic Restroom Cleaning

  • Replacing Supplies
  • Types of restrooms floors, walls and ceiling
  • How to mix chemicals for restrooms cleaning

Basic Cleaning of Tile Floors

  • Types of Tile floors
  • Five ways to clean tile floors
  • Basic cleaning procedures for tile floors
  • Hands-on using custodial equipment
  • Types of floor coating

Basic Carpet Cleaning Procedures

  • Spin Bonnet
  • Spot and Stain Removal
  • Carpet Extraction
  • Five ways to clean carpet

After successful completion of this course students receive a Certified Custodial Technician Certificate.

Class Information


The Custodial Training program includes Custodial Training I, II and Custodial Supervision III; each is 36 hours in length. A Custodial Training Certificate will be awarded to those successfully completing Custodial Training I, II, and Custodial III classes.

Certified Custodial Technician - (9 weeks:  1-10-2012 to 3-8-2012 or 3-13-2012 to 5-25-2012)

The first part includes: Orientation and safety, floor and carpet care, sanitary facilities, wall/window care, and furniture. Students learn proper use of equipment, tools, chemicals, and supplies in practicing correct cleaning techniques.

The second part includes: Building maintenance (office and classroom), and guided and independent practice of Level I concepts. Also covered is effective use of time, planning, scheduling, and ordering and conducting inventories of custodial supplies. Use and maintenance of fire extinguishers is also discussed.

The third part includes: Cleaning problems and projects, supervision and training techniques, work schedules, job search and interviewing. Students apply basic and advanced custodial skills and practices.
