A Remembering Journey support groups are being offered at Barton Academy of Excellence Elementary School for students grades 1st through 6th. The groups are open to children who have recently experienced a death. The groups usually consist of three to seven children who have had similar feelings and experiences surrounding grief and loss.

We will cover issues such as changes in the family that may occur as a result of a death and dying. In addition, we will develop strategies and new ways to continue remembering this special person. There will be a discussion and activities in each session. All the artwork that the children have done will be saved and sent home after the last session. Your child may be interested in sharing this with you between the group sessions.

The group will meet once a week during the regular school day for approximately 35 minutes. We are very happy to offer this service to your child and you are encouraged to share any information, which would assist me in helping your child be successful and happy.
